Rupee trading flat at 68.47

The rupee trimmed its initial gains and was trading flat at 68.47 against the American currency in the evening session on fresh dollar demand amid firm equities.

The domestic unit resumed higher at 68.34 per dollar against yesterday’s closing of 68.47 per dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market.

However, it weakened to 68.58 before being quoted at 68.47 at 4.10 pm local time.

The domestic unit hovered in a range of 68.58 and 68.34 per dollar during afternoon deals.

The dollar fell 0.4 per cent to 113.66 yen, having traded around 114.00 yen through the Asian session.

Meanwhile, the dollar index was down by 0.12 per cent at 96.74 against a basket of six currencies in the Asian trade.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex ended higher by 267.35 points or 1.14 per cent at 23,649.22.
