Wind turbine maker Suzlon has won its maiden order from Hero Future Energies for 31.50 MW of wind power.
Part of the Hero Group, HFE is an independent power producer (IPP), and has a presence across 10 states with cumulative installed capacity of over 260 MW by 2015 across wind, solar PV (grid connected), and rooftop solar solutions.
Suzlon will install its S97 suite of wind turbine generators (WTGs) with 120m hub height and rated capacity of 2.1 MW each at the Zaheerabad site in Medak district, Telangana, on supply and installation basis. The project will be scheduled for commissioning by June 2016, it said in a statement to the BSE.
The 120m hub is the world’s tallest hybrid tower and combines both lattice and tubular structure, which is designed indigenously to harness the available wind energy across low wind sites. It increases energy output by 12 to 15 per cent over other turbines of same capacity.
Sunil Jain, CEO, Hero Future Energies (HFE) said, “Keeping in mind the emergent energy appetite of a developing country like India, we have embarked on a journey to install a robust portfolio of renewable energy projects in the country. HFE has over 1100 MW of wind projects in the pipeline. The Zaheerabad (69 MW) site is our second project in a row in self-development mode.”
Ishwar Mangal, Chief Sales Officer, Suzlon Group added, “We are delighted to have signed yet another order for our hybrid towers, with Hero Future Energies. The S97 120m hybrid tower is a game changer for the wind industry and is a result of our continued focus to invest in next generation technologies that offer higher ROI to our customers across segments. We are looking forward to more successes this year.
