NTPC Q2 net profit rises 40% to Rs 2,898 cr

NTPC Ltd has reported a 40 per cent increase in net profit for second quarter of fiscal 2015-16 at Rs.2,898.28 crore against Rs.2,071.63 crore in the same quarter last year.

The company's net revenue grew 5 per cent to Rs.18,173.90 crore against Rs.17,267.32 crore in the same quarter last year, the company said in a statement on Friday.

With an installed capacity of 45,548 MW, the company's gross generation during the quarter was 8 per cent higher at 60.159 billion units against 55.448 billion units in the same quarter last year.

The installed capacity as on September 30 was 2,420 MW more than the same date last year.

During the quarter, the coal plants operated at 77.27 per cent plant load factor against 73.20 per cent last year.

During the first half of the fiscal 2015-16, NTPC’s net profit rose 18 per cent to Rs.5,033.63 crore against Rs.4,272.83 crore in the same period last year.

Net revenue for the first half dropped 1.7 per cent to Rs.35,497 crore against Rs.36,136.63 crore.

The average tariff during the first half of 2015-16 was Rs.3.29 a unit.
