Utility vehicles major Mahindra & Mahindra on Wednesday said the company will focus more on electric vehicles right now, more than the hybrid ones.
"Right now it is on electric vehicles as electric vehicles is a viable business. A lot more interests are coming from consumers and the Government," Pawan Goenka, Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, told reporters here.
He said the company is already running some tests for electric vehicles, apart from the e2O that it has been selling after acquiring Reva Electric.
For example, the company has sent five Maxximo electric vehicle to be run arund Taj Mahal in Agra. Mahindra will be ready with its Verito electric vehicle to be launched in few markets soon, Goenka said.
He added that schemes like Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) by the Government will help build the ecosystem for such vehicles over next three-four years.
