Reliance Defence to invest Rs. 6,500 cr in MIHAN project

The Reliance Anil Ambani Group is in the process of investing about Rs. 6,500 crore in its defence and aerospace equipment business at Nagpur.

The group through its newly formed company Reliance Defence Ltd, has acquired 289 acres of land at the Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) project for manufacturing of helicopters and other defence equipment.

The MIHAN project is spread over 4,300 hectares, comprising an airport, SEZ area, residential and commercial and other SEZ related facilities.

Today evening at a special function in Nagpur, Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), which manages the MIHAN project, would be formally handing over the Letter of Allotment to Reliance Defence Ltd. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, would be presiding over the function.

Another senior Maharashtra Government official on condition of anonymity said that in MIHAN, the land which costs about Rs. 200 crore has been allocated in sector 9 and 11, which is closer to the airport. The investment will create about 13,000 direct and indirect jobs.
