Hyderabad-based Global Hospitals has forayed into East Africa by launching a 125-bed facility in Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous region in the United Republic of Tanzania.
The facility, known as Tasakhtaa Hospitals, an associate of Global Hospitals India, has been opened in association with Turky's Group of Companies, stated to be one of the largest business groups of Zanzibar.
Global Hospitals chairman and managing director, K Ravindranath, stated in a press release on Wednesday that the Zanzibar facility would provide primary and secondary care services, with some level of tertiary care.
According to Ravindranath, the new facility will be one of the nodes of the Global Hospitals' plans for a regional healthcare network. The group is already in talks regarding a tertiary care hospital in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania and also evaluating few other opportunities in rest of the Africa and Middle East as well.
