US dollar descends on weak figures

The US dollar was inching towards a four-week trough versus the Japanese yen Thursday as spending on durable goods tumbled.

Based on figures, spending on durable goods dropped for a six consecutive month in February, which surfaced after the Federal Reserve's dovish stance last week.
Against the yen, the greenback came with a whisker of a one-month low of ¥119.22 reached Tuesday. It traded at $1.0976 per euro.

Aside from weak US data, the remarks of Chicago Fed President Charles Evans made dollar bulls uncomfortable. He said the firm dollar's clear disinflationary pressure might be injected in projections, making it more difficult for the Fed to hit its 2% inflation target.
